Ok I admit I’ve been a bit slack on the blog, but it’s only because we’ve been working so hard here. Its been a busy few weeks in the restaurant and we’ve also been working away on some other exciting stuff too. You may have noticed a lot of talk in the last few weeks about Salthill and our new association, “The Village Salthill”
We’re very excited to be working with this group and helping to revive Salthill. Its a great initiative bringing together local business owners and others to showcase the Salthill area and everything we have to offer.
We have some exciting stuff in the works with the group. Pop into see us or the folks in Salthill Pharmacy, O’Connors Bar or Pangea Coffee Emporium if you’d like to buy a “The Village Salthill” t-shirt or hoodie and keep up to date with what we’re doing via our Facebook
And now for the main event 🙂
We slowed things down a little last weekend and had a smaller East Meets West menu and it was a really good one. Let me show you.
Salad of Serrano Ham with Fresh Mango, Cracked Black Pepper, Fresh Leaves &Lime Dressing
This was a really nice, clean, fresh starter to kick things off. We actually have some really nice mango available in Ireland at the moment. A little pop from the lime dressing with the kick of black pepper and this really came together nicely.
Wild Boar Sausage with Orange Pepper Mash, Spiced Red Cabbage with a Thyme & Dark chocolate Jus
A much stronger flavour profile for the mains, I really liked this myself. The mash was delicious! I’m also a big fan of dark chocolate sauces, you really need something rich when you’re having a strong flavour meat. A slightly unusual combination but a really good one.
Vanilla & Basil Panna Cotta, Strawberry Compote
And to finish a nice clean dessert. This had a lovely wobble and texture with a light but refreshing flavour of basil that paired great with the sweetness of the strawberry compote. A lovely way to finish a great meal.
Thats all for this one folks, will try to keep on top of the blogs again!
